Hey gang!

So I am running OSX86 on a Sony Vaio laptop, but like many others I am having problems with my audio. Looking at the sound properties in OSX, it looks like it is detected. I can even see levels if I play a note in GarageBand. However I don't hear any sound coming out of my speakers or through my headphone jack. If I switch over to Vista, it looks like the exact soundcard is a SigmatelStac 9872ak, or perhaps it is 9872 and PCI, which is what it came up with after running Everest. I also ran PC wizard and it came up with something like 828016 ICH7/codec 83847662. I tried using the HDA program and a file that had 9872 in the filename, but that seemed to remove it from the sound properties, so I then used the file that installs everything automatically for all diffrent types of soundcards that I found here at the beginning of the forums, and it showed up again in the audio properties, but still I can't hear sound.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I might be able to get sound to play through my speakers?! I actually have a usb headseat that works fine, but I would really like to be able to hear sound on my speakers. I looked everywhere on the fourms, and it doesn't seem like the 9872 is a popular card. I keep reading about doing a dump, and am pretty savy with computers, but I don't know how to go about that.

Thanks for your help everyone!
