I just thought I'd mention that the Dell Mini9 has had the last of it's issues solved. It is now fully OSX86 friendly.

The last few remaining issues we had were sleep with the stock drive. That was solved by patching the IOATA kext. Then there was the SD card slot. Originally there was no OS X driver for it. We wrote one, it went through several revisions slowly adding more features and improving the speed. It now supports all SD and SDHC cards, at nearly the full speed of the drive, and behaves properly when the machine is put to sleep and woken up. And finally, the last problem was getting audio output after sleep. Patching one of the audio kexts fixed that, and also fixed mute while it was at it (we now have functioning mute).

We use a Boot132 bootloader with most of the customized kexts saved to the EFI partition. Some of the kexts don't behave well when put there, so we have an automated script to run during install or after any major updates. The install uses a retail copy of Leopard, allowing people to Do The Right Thing and purchase a copy of Leopard prior to installing.

I think this makes the Dell Mini 9 the BEST OSX86 Netbook on the market now. There's nothing on it that doesn't work now. No parts need to be replaced. It Just Works. :)

unaclocker and every1 else that has been working on this with the dell 9 rock! I've been watching your thread and others for the wind and acer trying to decide what netbook i'd get. I'm def saving up for an 9 now. thanks for the hard work guys.

This really is exciting news. I had posted on an old string about cloning my working system (10.5.5 running with Type11, v6); installing a new RunCore 64GB SSD; and saving the old one as a backup.

With this news I am inclined to install a blank RunCore 64GB SSD and start from scratch. Should be a lot more fun this time, now that I understand most of the process . . . if not the details.

I assume that the process described by Type11 at the link you listed for v7.7 is current and correct for this new install ?

Now that the process is finished, will you still be around to answer questions in case I get into trouble?

Thanks so much for your good work and those of Type11 and anyone else contributing to this effort. Really has been a fun ride.

Yeah, that thread I linked to is updated each time he comes out with a new release. And yeah, I love my Mini9, and I don't see a viable competitor to it coming out for another year or more (the Mini10 just announced has a worthless GMA500 chipset), so I'll definitely be hanging around.

That's good news. Thanks.

Just checked, and the RunCore 64GB from My Digital Discount is out of stock. :-(

Guess I'll have to try and get one of the Dell units, hoping they are as good as the RunCore drives.
