Hi All,

My ASUS G50V gaming laptop will only boot OSX in safe mode (-x). I boot it in verbose and it gives me an error on a network kext (I believe?--see attached picture). It may be important to know that ethernet works on the laptop after a fresh install from ideneb 10.5.5, so I'm afraid to alter any kext. Also--I have applied a modified BIOS that actually allows it to boot into safe mode.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thank you!!!

EDIT: Attachments aren't working right now. I will try to post it in the post.

I installed iPC 1.5.6 on my G50Vt-X1 (w/8GB RAM). In safe mode, it's usable - albeit at 1024x768. In normal mode, it's still 10247x68 and I get a lot of video distortion. Ther'es a nvidia resolution file somewhere that can be deleted, which in turn will return 1366x768 screen mode, but at the cost of opengl. Which is fine, I think it's the opengl subsystem that's causing the screen distortion. But I'm able to boot in both modes. It's just easier to use in safe mode. :thumbsdown_anim:

Is the modified BIOS rev 209? I installed that too -- this allows both CPU cores to be recognized properly and used.

The Realtek R1000 ethernet adapter is what you want.

I've not yet found any working kexts for the ALC663 sound.

I tried iDendeb 1.5.6 and that does not work at all. I'll try 1.5.5 - I just want proper video function without needing safe mode.

Hopefully the next release will make the G50 drivers more solid in full mode. A lot of it works, and safe mode gets you to where you need to go the most, but I know it's a popular laptop too... I'd happily donate real money as well; I just cannot afford a real macbook at this time and my Asus is too new to get rid of...
