HolyCrap
I get the same error but it's also followed by: FireWire GUID 0000000000000000 is invalid! Do you get the same thing? (you can look in console as well so you don't have to take photos of your screen before it scrolls by) I've tried the suggested solutions in the thread linked below but to no avail so I've ordered a new firewire card in hopes that it will work. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=100835 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/144658-error-firewire-unable-to-determine-security-mode-defaulting-to-full-secure/#findComment-1028175 Share on other sites

HolyCrap
I don't understand what you mean... I also see a line during startup that says "FireWire unable to determine security-mode; defaulting to full-secure" just like you do. In addition, a few lines later, I get an error that says "FireWire GUID 0000000000000000 is invalid!" Some of the other people who are getting the "FireWire GUID 0000000000000000 is invalid!" line are also seeing the "FireWire unable to determine security-mode; defaulting to full-secure" just like you do, so sometimes these two issues appear to be connected. I was just wondering if you were also seeing a line that says "FireWire GUID 0000000000000000 is invalid!" because there are potential solutions out there.
