Geo877
Hey, i have kalyway 10.5.2 installed on an AMD machine and all is running pretty smoothly, but unfortunately, i need to update to 10.5.5 for the iPhone SDK to run. So after many hours of tireless searching im still not much closer. After reading a little about the voodoo kernel i discovered if running you can update from the apple software update, so maybe after installing voodoo i can just update to the latest OS (10.5.6 at the moment) without a trouble? The problem im facing is the voodoo requires you to be running 10.5.5 to install voodoo, I tryed it anyway (on 10.5.2) and it kinda worked, it crashed alot as warned. So the question i ask is could i run voodoo and update to 10.5.5+ whilst on 10.5.2 without trashing my system? Thanks!! In order to to run certain software and updates you need to patch this and a few other things. I installed from Kalyway 10.5.2 and then used Zephyroth's Update Utility to download & patch the 10.5.5 Combo update. Then I installed the Voodoo kernel. This kernel is nice because it does CPUID patching on the fly. This doesnt mean that you can just use Apple's Update Utility but its one step closer. Zephyroth's Update Utility http://rapidshare.com/files/142237317/ASU-0.5-Beta.zip.html *** Always read up on these utilites so that you are away of any bugs. Here is a god place to start. http://www.infinitemac.com/f36/zephyroths-...8-aug-18-t1385/ I used version 0.3 but it should be similar. I recomend selecting "Modify Only" as this will download and patch but not install the update. Instead it saves it to to a folder. You can then back up the patched updates and/or double check to see if they have been properly patched. Voodoo Kernel Information on can be found at the below links http://www.infinitemac.com/f36/ http://groups.google.com/group/xnu-dev/ I have been extremely happy with this kernel and running 10.5.5. It has solved a great deal of the issues with my rig. And as always back up before you perform these updates.
