stuppy
Hi I have been trying to install Leopard on my PC. I followed the advice of a member here but we've hit a brick wall and I am hoping someone else can give us a hand. I have used the method if doing a retail 10.5.4 install onto a external USB HDD, then installing 10.5.6 combo update, getting rid of some problematic kext files and then copying some files over to the external drive. Then running Chameleon on the external drive. Full progress can be seen here : http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=144339 The problem I am having is I cannot for the life of me get it to boot. It boots off the hdd to a darwin/chameleon bootloader screen - external hard drive shows up on the list. When I select it - it loads a couple of lines and then the computer just reboots. I have tried commands like -x for safe mode, that shows a load of text, presumeably loading or doing something with all the kext files, then just reboots. -s is the same. I have also tried rd=rdisk0s2, also tried mach_kernal rd=rdisk0s2. I have also tried setting the partition active using fdisk. I have the drive on different USB ports on the computer. No effect. I have played with every setting in concieveable in the BIOS, nothing. I am a beginner when it comes to Hackintosh. I have used computers and macs for years but all the patching and stuff is new. When I select the partition to load, a couple of lines load and then it just reboots. I am certain the lines loading before it reboots is something along the lines of extensions.mkext and then a load of numbers like 242404. Am desperate for help. Really cannot get my head around this Many thanks. stuppy
Getting further now. After playing the BIOS a bit more, it now appears to be booting - showing it initialising the hardware. It stops at the following line though : localhost mDNSResonder [22] : Could'nt read user-specified local hostname; using default bDevice-0018F3C54ED8.localb instead It says that 4 times each with different xxxx.localb bits. Ideas Thanks. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/144605-cannot-boot-leopard-first-time-hackintosher/#findComment-1026307 Share on other sites
