beast01 Posted January 4, 2009 Share Posted January 4, 2009 Hi , i' m trying to install a fully updated Tiger release on my HP pavilion dv4000 I tried all sorts of combinations of kernels and kexts , every time on restart i get only a blinking cursor , i mean darwin doesn't even try to load all my hardware drivers are in the install list . there is also a huge sublist of ATA/USB controllers drivers in this XxX release , maybe on restart my IDE drive is not even recognized . my hardware specs : pentium M 1.8Ghz MMX SSE SSE2 chipset Mobile Intel Alviso-G i915GM video Mobile Intel® 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family ( 128 MB ) hd 100Gb Toshiba mk1031gas - ultra-ATA/100 I have already installed jas 10.4.7 and its working perfectly , the major problem is that cs3 and cs4 + many other apps work only with 10.4.8 and higher . Reveeen Posted January 6, 2009 Share Posted January 6, 2009 I personally really like the install disk "XxX_OS_X86_10.4.11_Install_Disk_Rev2", but to each his/her own. Are you doing the jumper thing that it seems that everyone with Intel integrated graphics and notebooks has to do? beast01 Posted January 7, 2009 Author Share Posted January 7, 2009 Finally , after tons of wasted time trying to correctly install i gave up on tiger , just for the sake of it , knowing that chances are small i decided to test Leo (iDenebv1.3/10.5.5) ... and it worked with the first try ! i had some problems with my gma900 not being supported but i fixed it with this gma900 fix from mercurysquad - full QE/CI it works like a charm edit: first impression - boots in less than 30 secs and uses less than 300 MB !!! vs 40 secs and 400MB ( Tiger ) and more than a minute and 350 MB (XP ) - comparing on clean install ( size on disk - 7.48 GB ) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/144596-xxx-10411-install-issue/#findComment-1030461 Share on other sites More sharing options...
