I've tried to run several Leopard .iso discs, and several Tiger discs.

This is the rundown:

- None of the Leopard discs made it to the install screen. (Always stop while booting Darwin)

- Tiger discs make it to the install screen, but only one of the discs (Kalyway 10.4.10) has detected my HDD in Disk Utility. (However, after the restart I'm met with the apple logo and crossed-circle sign)

- However, it's a different story in VMware. When I install JaS 10.4.8 in VMware following this tutorial, I'm met with great success and it runs in VMware fine.

However when I run the same iso from a dvd at boot of the computer, it does not detect the HDD.

I've heard the main reason for this is AHCI not being enabled. My HDD, according to the Toshiba manual and Disk Utility, is a SATA drive. But in Device Manager, it is shown in ATA mode. I've read people's posts that fix this problem by enabling AHCI, but I have no such option in my BIOS!

Just incase I'm blind and it's just hiding in there, here are my Bios options: 1 (Main), 2 ("Advanced"), 3 (Display), 4 (Security), 5 (Boot).

Are there any installations that have worked for people with this no-AHCI handicap? I need to know if this is really the problem or not. I'm on an AMD Turion 64-bit, sb600 mobo.

What's the mainboard model? you may get a clue from the HCL. I did not have the AHCI option on my motherboard (see sig) and had to use a patched BIOS to install Kalyway 10.5.2

CPU-Z says it's an ATi Corp. Satellite L305D Mainboard. I haven't seen anyone say a Toshiba Satellite L305D is incompatible, and I can get it to run fine in VMware. I just have a feeling all I need to do is switch my SATA drive to AHCI, but I have no means of doing so.

Do you know how I could obtain a patched BIOS? Did you have to mod yours yourself? Sorry if I'm taking out a bunch of your time, I know how it feels answering questions like this. =\
