10.4.4 Intel Pro 100 VE Ethernet Drivers, No other posts help

I have a gateway desktop with a built in ethernet intel pro 100 ve with a device id of 1050(according to windows) or 0x10508086. MAC OSX 10.4.4 install went smoothly, everything works besides ethernet. read tons of posts on how others have fixed this for the intel pro 100 ve, none have helped and usually end up in an error msg when i reboot saying "this computer must be restarted...etc.."

 

i have the 10.4.3 extensions including IONetworkingFamily.kext.. have tried to replace the 10.4.4 ionetworkingfamily.kext with the 10.4.3 and after restart says it can not be used, it was installed incorrectly, i tried to repair permissions and after another restart i get the error durring booting that says "this computer must restart.. blah blah"..

 

i know many of you have posted on this previously and i thank you for the help but nothing has worked to date, anyone have any idea what i may be doing wrong??? and please make it detailed as i am very pc savy but slow when it comes to macs and all the terminal commands..
