nebulOSX
follow this tutorial. I myself got a bit confused with the activating the partition, so if need any help, leave a post or PM me Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/144465-help-with-boot-123/#findComment-1025316 Share on other sites
nate256
I got everything booting okay its all good!! Thanks The only part I need help with is hiding the partition so you cant see it on the desktop. UUID="MacLoader's UUID" none hfs rw,noauto What do you put in for macloader's UUID?? is that the only thing I need to insert, like do the rest of the commands stay the same in that line? nebulOSX
Go into disk utility, highlight your bootloader drive, click the info button on the main bar, a window comes up and copy the "Universal Unique Identifier" and use that number in the file, for instance if your UUID is A12992C1-4E75-35E5-A2B7-926F68B9C3F4 It would read... UUID=A12992C1-4E75-35E5-A2B7-926F68B9C3F4 none hfs rw,noauto Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/144465-help-with-boot-123/#findComment-1025369 Share on other sites
nate256
I used the UUID from the macloader drive and it is all good now!! Thanks, I used that guide before but for some reason I couldnt get it to work, so I just formatted the macloader partition and tried again. Now its all good Thanks!!! nate256
After doing the step to set up the boot loader on my other partition, I found out my firewire ports no longer are detected! What would cause such a thing to happen and what would be a fix to this problem? nebulOSX
If it worked with the boot132 cd, then I would guess it's down to a kext on the disc, have u copied over all the kexts you used on the boot 132 cd? EDIT: that didn't sound clear enough, did you copy the kexts you used from the cd onto the macloader partition when you set it up? When you set it up there should be a folder called "KEXTS" what kexts did you put in there? I would really like my sound back as I have the firewave Firewire sound card! LoL Thanks for all your help!! nebulOSX
Well if it it definitely worked when booting from the cd, copy the kexts from the cd to the macloader folder in the folder called 'KEXTS', go to your macloader folder in terminal.. cd ~/Desktop/MacLoader (or wherever you put the folder) then sudo ./updater.sh Enter password and follow prompts. If the sound and firewire never worked in the first place, note down the model and make and search around for the right kext, as the search function of this forum seems a little broken use google "search term" site:insanelymac.com Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/144465-help-with-boot-123/#findComment-1025615 Share on other sites
nate256
The sound worked before I set up the partition, so what you are saying is the kext from the boot cd for firewire did not get transferred to the partition? Because I did that step before and those are the kexts that got copied. How can i detirmine the model of my fireiwre?! How can i detirmine the model of my fireiwre?! Go into system profiler, is it listed under "Firewire" ? if not, do you have a manual or box that came with it, with the model information on it? I am pretty stuck from now on... sorry.. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/144465-help-with-boot-123/#findComment-1025633 Share on other sites
nate256
It is not in the system profile anymore, I have a PCI firewire card I could try too but I wanna get this working again!!! nebulOSX
It is not in the system profile anymore, I have a PCI firewire card I could try too but I wanna get this working again!!! OK, OS X clearly isn't recognizing it, I would seek knowledge from people with better knowledge than me, it should be down to kexts being loaded if it worked before when you used the cd to boot... sorry Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/144465-help-with-boot-123/#findComment-1025646 Share on other sites
nate256
dont be sorry! You helped a lot thanks!!! I think it may have something to do with the DSDT patcher!!! Is there away to remove that? Because before I did that, my firewire worked!! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/144465-help-with-boot-123/#findComment-1025672 Share on other sites

Because before I did that, my firewire worked!! aha! remove the dsdt.aml file from the root of either/both the bootloader partition and the Mac OS X partition, then boot up, does it work now? (don't delete the file, just move it elsewhere) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/144465-help-with-boot-123/#findComment-1025679 Share on other sites
nate256
I got it off the boot, but where is the root on the install disk? Okay here is what I got. I erased the boot partition and booted with the cd again, everything is good, firewire and all. Is there away to make that boot "bootable" with out the DSDT patch? nebulOSX
do everything as you did before with the bootloader partition, when everything is done open up the bootloader partition and move the dsdt.aml file onto your desktop, if it now works it means the dsdt patch isnt working properly, and you'll need to create one that is compatible..
