Ok, here's what's going on. I have tried installing 3 different types of OSX86 versions, all to no avail. The installation either hangs, freezes while installing, or gives an HSF error after installing.

So far I've tried -

  • Kalyway 10.5.2 Intel/AMD - Install seldom works, but gives error when booting. (Patches were applied)
  • iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5 Intel/AMD - DVD isn't even recognized unless in a SATA DVD reader; Install never worked though.
  • iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Intel/AMD - Always hanged while loading files. (Yes, tried -v, -s, -x, ect..)

I have no idea which other ones to look for, or what else to try. I even had to re-install Vista on a 3rd partition, as the Vista bootloader was apparently damaged during the fluked OSX install.

Here's my setup so that hopefully you guys can send me in the right direction. :P The rig I'm trying to run this on is the first one in my sig.

I only have one 640GB WD, so I partitioned it like this:

  • 100GB -NTFS- Vista
  • 100GB -MAC OS Extended Journaled - OSX
  • 400GB -NTFS- Vista Data

Like I stated before, the rest of the system specs are those of the first rig listed in my sig. Either way, here they are.

  • Asus M2N32 SLI Deluxe | AMD Athlon X2 3600+ | 4GB OCZ XTC | XFX 9800GT | WD 640GB SATA | Corsair HX 620 | BenQ IDE CD/DVD

Thank you guys. I really appreciate any help or advice. I apologize if this isn't the right section for this, I just couldn't find anything while searching the site for similar issues to mine. Once again, thank you all. :P

P/S - Sorry if I rushed the post. It's almost 4:00 AM over here in Miami, and I'm pretty exhausted. :gathering:

:P

Intel user here, i though i can't help so much, maybe all the distros you tried fail to recognize the hdd/dvd controller, that's why they hang, i know gigabyte bioses has options for the sata controller (ahci/ide/raid) maybe changing this setting can help, but if you have this option set on ide for instance, and change it on ahci (required in my laptop to work with macos) you will loose your vista installation.Look in the asus bios too to see if similar options are present.

If you succeed to arrive to the installing options using ideneb(it should work on your system), try to not select any of the optional drivers other than nvidia chipset ones, you can install audio/video/fixes later. Kaliway is too old i though, while i don't know iPC.

Anyway, booting the dvd with -v you can see why the installation hang somewhere, if it say "waiting for root device" you can be 100% sure it can't find your hdd controller.

For your knowledge, boot switches means, -v=verbose mode, it disable the gfx grey screen only, -x=safe mode, usually useful if you have troubles with video card, -s=single mode, it load only the console and a minimal set of drivers, to know the source of your problem -v is the most useful.

Ah, before i forget, as amd user be sure to not use a vanilla kernel and choose an alternative kernel from that in the options list.
