jayzon915
I have an Acer Aspire 4530-5889 that I just bought. Of course it came bundled with Vista Home Premium . I would like to install OSX on it. Unfortunately, I don't know where to start. I figured I would be able to boot off one install DVD and at least make it to the install menu so I downloaded for the past couple weeks every DVD i could find. However, I can't seem to get past the first few seconds of the startup sequence.... I've tried AHCI mode and IDE from the Bios. I have tried booting every one with and without -v & -x. I've burnt each disc twice at 4X. (Slowest I could.) iDeneb 10.5.5 v1.3 (Boots to "Loading HFS+ file:[/system/Library/Extensions.mkext] from 4230480." then freezes until I press a key. Then the computer restarts.), Kalyway 10.5.2, (Makes it 100 lines down quite quickly, then restarts computer.) Leo4all 10.5.2 v2, (Makes it 7 lines down then restarts computer.) Leo4all 10.5.2 v3, (Makes it 100 lines quite quickly down, then restarts computer.) JaS 10.4.8, (Boots to "Loading HFS+ file:[/system/Library/Extensions.mkext] from 4230450." Then the computer restarts.) iAtkos 10.5.1.(Boots to "Loading HFS+ file:[/system/Library/Extensions.mkext] from 4230450." Then the computer restarts.) I'm downloading Zephyrot 10.5.2 v2 and LawlessPPCPhenomLeo currently and will try them also. I can't find any information in the forums or wiki about support for the processor or video card. I've looked all over, there was mention of the processor on the Portuguese portion of the forums but Google Translate didn't help much. I don't know much about programing or Macs in general but I am trying. If I could get help to at least get computer to install and boot, I could probably figure out the kexts for the other peripherials myself (Hopefully! ). I tried to be as thorough as possible on this information! Thanks for the help guys! Shubhanyu
Wow ... I was 'bout to get this one ... could you tell me how are you liking the Acer model compared to a Compaq CQ50-106? Am torn between the Acer and Compaq ... and the compaq looks a lot clean like a mac but am worried about quality of construction and compatibility with windows XP itself and of course mac os x ... i would definitely want to run os x on my laptop ! What do you say about the build quality and such? Sorry if I bug you for some time ... need the perfect one for os X ... what about the graphics chipset? Performance with latest games such as GTA 4 ? W_Galway
i'm in the same position as you guys with the acer 4530. i've tried a few of the dvd's that i've had from previous osx experiments in the past year- but arrived at similar results. anyone have an idea if it's the video card? the processor? or (my guess) something with the drive controller? We probably should try and start a formal thread within insanelymac for this particular laptop. We probably should try and start a formal thread within insanelymac for this particular laptop. I can't remember exactly what it was (its been a few months since I tried this) but I am going to redouble my efforts to try and figure this out. If I remember right, I think it had something to do with the Geforce 9100M video card. Geforce 9 isn't widely supported is it? Plus the video card is such an uncommon card that support is probably limited... I'll check back if I get anything figured out.... Thanks guys! I'm attempting to install on the exact same model of laptop. The trick as I discovered (Done in iDebed, iPC and Kalyway) is if you are using a USB Mouse keeping Moving it. Let the Darwin Loader come up and press enter, notice it doesn't do anything until you move the mouse? Well keep moving till it begins reading the disc. If you did manage to complete you install on the aspire 4530 please email or pm me and let me know what you did specifically for hardware. Thanks [Edit] I just noticed the replies at the bottom and Remus 19s post , been fighting it with for days. So glad to read that post.
