Getintothegame
Hey everyone, I'm using a vanilla install of Leopard with a GUID boot layout. I have two partitions, one for a backup (incase I mess something up on my main install) and one for the main. The backup partition is drive 2 (drive 1 is EFI) and then my partition that I'd like it to automatically load is partition 3. Googling, it seems that if I would have used a MBR, this would be as simple as making the partition active. However, this doesn't work with GUID. Anyone have any idea what to do so I don't have to always hit the down arrow key and enter? egduj
i have basically the same situation. except my test partition has iatkos 5i, and my normal partition has the retail install. i tried changing the startup disk under preferences, from either partition, but in both it's the same. first, only the retail partition shows up as an option (well, network too). then, if i do select the retail partition (the one i want to boot by default), i just hear a 'bonk' sound... any ideas? chagani
I have a similar problem... My setup is as follows: 1. SATA Port 1 - Data HDD (MBR) - disk0 in Leopard 2. SATA Port 2 - OSX HDD w/EFI (GUID) - disk1 in Leopard 3. SATA Port 3 - Data HDD - disk2 in Leopard 4. SATA port 4 - Data HDD - disk3 in Leopard In bios first HDD boot device has been set to SATA Port 2. Since I am using the EFI partition for my custom kexts, I have a Boot.plist file in the "Extra" folder that has the following in order for Chameleon to boot into OSX if no input is received after 5 seconds: <key>Default Partition</key <string>hd(1,2)</string> However, it defaults to the disk3 ALWAYS. Furthermore, when I use TAB on the Chameleon boot screen to go into the partition selection screen my OSX HDD shows as hd(0,2) and selecting it from here it boots just fine. So I changed my Boot.plist file to reflect the above: <key>Default Partition</key <string>hd(0,2)</string> But it still defaults to disk3. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Chagani Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/144329-default-partition-with-guid-and-chameleon-boot-loader/#findComment-1158438 Share on other sites
fghero
Hi all, I have the same problem. Apparently Chameleon does not like the syntax for the Default Partition flag, and it resorts to the systemwide boot.plist (instead of being able to use the one in Extras), which does not have this flag. Anyone has got this syntax working? Thanks!
