dweb8888
About time that I contribute to the forum. Just installed iATKOS v5i - OSX 10.5.5 on the laptop and let me say this is by far the best distro I have used. So far, everything is working except audio. My specs are: Processor - Intel core 2 duo T5500 1,66 GHz HD - SATA drive Graphics - Intel GMA 945 Sound - ADI SoundMAX Wireless - Broadcom LAN - Broadcom Second core is disabled for running the OS so in "About This Mac" it says it is Core 2 Solo. Not a problem since the bottleneck on this machine is still the graphics car. Sound is strange. In System Prefs. it says there is audio "HD Audio Output" but no sound is coming out. It is not muted. In System Profiler however, it says there is no built in audio. If some one knows of a solution feel free to comment. Graphics card is working out of the box. However, it shows that it only has 64 MB and not the 256 MB of shared RAM. Wireless is working out of the box as well. LAN should be working as there was a selection about it when installing the OS but have not tested it just yet. One other thing, for the people using the iATKOS v5i, please choose the x86 ACPI driver if you would like to have your keyboard and touchpad working. It basically gives you PS/2 support. Took me a while to lear that . Just a little more info: My Xbench result is something like 87. Is that good, bad or what? I would allow myself to ask a question here. How difficult would it be to have both cores working. On some other distros I was able to use both cores for a few min. before the computer stops working. On this one, it would not even load the OS. I am only thinking that since I was able to use the OS with both cores for a few min. (5 or so) it would mean that it is possible to have them both but there is something that is not working 100%. By the way, the temp of the laptop is 45 C constant with a few minor exceptions when it goes to 55, so no overheating here. 3xodus
Greetings I've tried installing os x on the same rig (nx7300) with little success before. Now that you have installed it and seem to be running it successfully I thought I will give it a try once more. I'm now downloading the iATKOS v5i. I will keep you posted on what I do, I hope I dont run into any trouble. If I do, I will post here for your assistance. Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/144296-hp-nx7300-1055/#findComment-1064252 Share on other sites
dweb8888
First of, welcome to the forum. Second, I gave up on using OSX. I found out I am more productive and work faster using XP or Vista for that matter rather than OSX. Maybe, and just maybe when Apple fixes some of the things I didn't like in the OS I might give it a try again. Anyways, I will be coming back to the forum from time to time just to check things out. In case you run into a problem, look in one of my posts where I have explained the steps and other things in order to get the OS installed on this machine. Good luck and I hope you like the OS.
