I've spent many days with this sound issue and Im literally at my wits end :hysterical: (thus the post here)

For all the gurus out there, I've attached my codec dump for your analysis. I've tried using Taruga's AppleHDA patcher

(both versions 1.20 and 1.16) and sound has not worked.

Results of patching (1.20)

1. No devices detected in system pref -> sound

2. No devices detected in system profiler

Results of patching (1.16)

1. Devices detected in system pref -> sound

(But they don't seem to be right at all, internal speakers are "inputs"?, some devices are unknown, but most importantly,

it mentions that the selected sound device has no output control (volume slider is gray/disabled)

I've also used the kexts from the STAC9271D.v7.zip file that is floating around on these forums, and these kexts give me

the best results so far; headphones work, and the sound devices seems to be both identified properly and in the proper

tabs in system prefs -> sound (by proper tabs I mean Output and Input).

However, ironically, my first priority is sound from my internal speakers (everything else is a perk/optional). If I need to

sacrifice sound from all other outputs..Im willing. Hopefully, the above diagnostic information would help someone help me.

Here are some other possibly pertinent info:

My laptop is an HP HDX Dragon 20" laptop (Model: 9494nr). To my knowledge, the speaker configuration is

four small internal speakers with a subwoofer (if the woofer dont work, dont care). I've been able to get

everything else I care about (networking, etc) working. I really would like sound from my speakers, so please :hysterical:

I'll also attach my pin config and the STAC9271D.v7.zip (both for reference and for anyone else trying to get this file)

codec_dump.txt

STAC9271D.v7.zip

pinConfig.txt

So having seemingly found no one who is trying to put OSX on their HDX (the 20" version; not the 18" or 16" ones), I'm attempting to manually edit my own plists and AppleHDA.kext according to this guide (and its related guides):

However, the one part Im confused about is editing the plist files. If we do not have the ALC888 or similar codec (instead the sigmatel 9271D or IDT codec) how are we supposed to edit the pathmap? How do we know which series of node IDs correspond to which output or input (i.e. line out, line in, SPDIF, Internal speakers, etc). Also once we figure out which

of "groupings of node IDs" refer to which outputs/input, what order to they have to be placed in the pathmap, in the plist?

Someone please help :)

I'm actually in the same boat. I have a 20" HDX Dragon and I cannot get the sound to work either. I've tried the guides and my results seem to be the same as yours. I'd even pay for someone to get this working. Sound is the only function I'm lacking at the moment. If I get any leads I'll post them here.

Good luck!

I am an instructor and would like to convert from Vista to OS 10.5.5. Everything works except sound from my laptop speakers. I've struggled for months to no avail and I am willing to pay for a solution.

I'll pay $50 for a complete solution:

* Proper sound with proper controls out of my HDX Dragon's internal speakers

* Proper laptop shutdown (not hanging at end.)

$40 if you cannot get proper shutdown to work but everything else does.

I'll then share the solution with everyone. Please. this is the only thing holding me back on this laptop.

Thanks!

Hi, I'm looking into purchasing a 9494, primarily for windows use, but also for light OSX'ing to develop small iphone apps. What pitfalls did you run into while installing OSX other than sound card issues? Do you forsee any issues with running the iPhone SDK on a hackintosh'd dragon? Thanks.
