Timmy_J
Hey everyone, I recently acquired an older version of Mac OSX (Tiger) and ive been wanting to check it out for ages. So i finally partitioned a section of my external HDD off for Mac and installed onto a 100gb partition. Now everything seemed to install fine, however, when trying to boot to my external hard drive nothing happens. It cant find the OS on the external hard drive. Ive also made sure that my laptop can support it and it indeed has sse3 compatability. What else should i be doing? Any help would be great. Reveeen
Putting a boot sector on your external hardrive. (a PC, when trying to boot, tries to read the boot sector, no boot sector (with booting instructions) no boot) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/144139-installing-mac-to-external-hdd/#findComment-1023873 Share on other sites

Reveeen
When installing OSx, the very first screen you get, across the top there is a command bar, select "utilities", a drop down selection happens, choose disk utility, and choose to partition your USB drive MBR (master boot record).
