Sebani
When I reach the Installation part, and I try to choose my hard drive, I can't see any of my hard drives, just my cd drive. How do I fix this? Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/144068-hard-drive-doesnt-show-up-in-disk-utility/ Share on other sites
Xempy
This is my problem on several .iso releases! The only one that detects my harddrive is Kalyway 10.4.10. JaS 10.4.8 does not detect it, and uphuck 10.4.9 doesn't either. Some people have apparently solved it by changing a BIOS setting, but my laptop has extremely limited settings so I don't damage it with my simple mind. I don't remember which setting they suggested, but I googled "osx86 harddrive not detected", or something similar. See if googling that can help you. If not, try Kalyway. Sorry I can't do more, I wish someone had a definitive answer for this. It bugs me, too. Reveeen
Usually (I say usually because I don't know, and like you I am too lazy to look it up and/or post the details) this is the result of having SATA hardrive(s). The original Intel developer disks that found their way into the wild did not support SATA hardrives, almost all of the Tiger releases are based on these original disks, so SATA support is very limited. Because you are trying to install on an AMD processor system (and again, I am too lazy to look it up) it is also likely that you have a Nvidia chipset in there (with a Nvidia SATA controller), again not too well supported in Tiger. So now your task is to do the research (which means probably several hours of reading here on the forums) to find a release that supports your hardware, or ................ install to an external USB hardrive providing your system supports USB booting. To be honest, you are probably better off checking the Leopard releases for your Nvidia chipset/SATA support, keeping in mind that we are on the threshold of Apple selling systems with Nvidia chipsets, meaning: Leopard support will likely follow within the hacking community about 6 months afterward.
