Dear friends,

I've just buy new hardware for making a new pc; I read a lot of sites/messages, so I've buy:

Asus P5gl-mx (ICH6 with Intel G900)

512 mb ram ddr 400mhz

Celeron D 336 (SSE3)

Maxtor Sata hdd

Pioneer dvd burner

I've installed everything right and I've tried Myzar10.4-10.5 (perfect on another pc, a P4ht with I865) but during the darwin boot I immediately see the Kernel Panic "You must restart...and so on"

I've try to update bios to the last (solving a problem about the Celeron D ucode, nice!) but nothing.

I suppose a Sata error (but I'm sure that P5gl-mx has nice sata support) and try with an IDE hdd: just the same.

I've also try - v, -s, -x, mach_kernel.orig, platform=x86pc and also ACPI, I've disable everthing on the mb like Azalia and Lan but I always see Kernel Panic "cpu0 caller 0x0019c352" (type 14) and the first "Darwin 8.4.1..." line crashes and remain forever on the screen.

What I can do?I'm very surprised cause I bought only really supported hardware.

I suppose a patch error but Myzar ed. is one of the best...Don't know, please help, I read a lot about but I didn't find anything interesting!

Have a nice Day

have you tried 10.4.4 without the 10.4.5 update? i would try that and see if it makes a difference.

I believed that Myzar ed. is at the first time a 4.4 edition (darwin 8.4.1 is the one of 4.4 ver.?)that install a patch to 4.5 after...Am I wrong? There's a way for start the 4.4 directly at the F8 boot screen? I cannot proceed with installation cause my pc hangs immediately, now I can write the complete kernel error:

"Kernel loadable modules in backtrace (with dependencies):

com.apple.driver.AppleAHCIPort(1.0.0)@0x2f692000

depend.: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(1.9)@0x1b6ed000

depend.: com.apple.iokit.IOAHCIFamily(1.0.0)@0x2f688000"

and it stops.

AHCI is a sata related?Very strange,P5 should had full support...And with new bios I cannot choose Pata emulation. In the bios settings I see the maxtor is the 3rd Ide device, instead Pioneer is number 1, but I cannot change the settings cause this Asus mb seems to see "before" the Pata and after all the Sata.

Thanks a lot to Callysto and to the others that could help me.

You mentioned this is new hardware. There is a chance that this is hardware related. Reseat DDR RAM, remove any PCI cards not needed, reset BIOS. Also run memtest86 to see if DDR pass test. http://www.memtest86.com/

Thanks a lot for the useful link (I'll try it!), but I think that my hardware is ok cause I've installed for trial XPsp2 and Mandriva L. and everthing ok.
