amw_drizz
Okay So heres the setup Intel Core 2 Duo Stock 3.0ghz Oc'ed to 3.6ghz 8 Gigs DDR2 1066 ram evga 750i mobo BFG Tech nVidia 9800 GTX GPU x 2 I got the system installed using maxmem=3027 and I don't need it for boot as it loads fine. I saw a recomendation to clone the drive and I had made 3 partitions for it 1) main 2) test 3) shared apps & misc files. So Main boots fine it is running 10.5.2 Kalyway But as with the suggestion I am using my test partition to get all the kinks worked out before I move it to my Main partition. The Issue, I have an nForce 750i Chipset Board AND a nVidia 9800 GTX Graphic Card(s). I haven them set to SLi as I am dual booting windows xp 64bit. (never mind that install it is on sata and leapord on IDE) When I try to install nForce chipset drivers for SATA, or nForce / nVidia Driver Fix the sytem will not boot. Just reboots. I am trying to get a snapshot of the error that causes it. I am starting to think that they require 10.5.3 and not 10.5.2. But I cannot apply any updates to the system or When I try to do the 10.5.5 combo update following the guide it fails. When I try the pre-nforce patch I boot up and it fails, try the normal patch reboot and it fine but system crashes while trying to load the post update patch. And I just got the Lan to work Okay some screen cap of loading with the sleepkernel after attempting the 10.5.5 update. right where it hangs. there are no errors at all prior to that spot. The odd thing is that it is trying to say main is foobarred but it don't appear so since it still loads. Any and all help welcome Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/143772-nvidia-nforce-750i/ Share on other sites
redcheshirecat
There is a special thread in install forum for nVidia 7 series chipsets, but just to let you know, so far 2 cards in SLI is the bigfoot of the mac world. A few people have claimed to see it, and there are some questionable videos out there, but by in large it is a unconfirmed myth. also, for network stuff, I have found that a warm boot will occasionally restart my lan (its a pci lan card, my on board NIC never worked) Nice rig, by the way, too bad you are running vista. Worst operating system ever made... If I could get my iPhone to work on XP 64, I would be back on that in a heartbeat. I need to update my sig, I have accomplished all goals as described. everything works fine except sleep, and I am only on the 10.5.5 Kernel right now. Matthew L.
I've had OS X loading to the same spot then freezing with 2 9600 GT's, I've just popped out one of them, and voila, OS X loaded. (But it looks freezed (like 2 GPUs installed) for a minute, then it loads and works great.) So unfortunately, I can't have both 9600's in if I want to use my OS X. I think, the issue applies to your machine, too. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/143772-nvidia-nforce-750i/#findComment-1022443 Share on other sites
amw_drizz
Yea I ended up pulling one of the GFX cards now I am just trying to get it working correctly with both so I dont have to keep pulling one all the time. But I am trying to work out some other problems like a program freezing or not closing, along with trying to decompress a RAR file causes the computer to crash as well with the system going to a "Please Hold the power switch or if your computer is equiped with it please reboot your computer now" So now I am trying to get this working a little bit smoother.
