I recently installed PCWiz's iPC, and everything is going fine except for shutdown. I installed the openhaltrestart.kext because my system wasn't shutting down all the way. Now my laptop still doesn't shut down all the way, but in verbose mode it says 'CPU Halted, Safe to Shutdown." And then I have to hold down the power button to shut off the laptop.

I was just wondering whether or not this is what openhaltrestart.kext was supposed to do. I always thought that it fixed the problem of the computer not shutting down all the way... am I using the openhaltrestart.kext correctly when I still have to manually shut down my laptop?

Thank you for your help :)

Did you do a kextload on that kext after installing it? Or install it with something like kexthelper which seems to do that automatically? I'd imagine the kext isn't loaded if it isn't working.. Sure has worked great for me on every machine I've used it on.

First I installed it with the iPC DVD, and I saw the kext was being loaded at startup, but shutdown still wasn't working. Then I reinstalled the OS without it, and used kext helper b7 to install it, and shutdown wasn't working still. I've tried both the Vanilla and Voodo kernels but get this same problem every time. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :) ... For now I'm stuck using Vista again.
