chrono807
My laptop has the following specs: GM965 chipset GMA x3100 Core 2 Duo 1.8GHz 2GB of DDR2 Dell 1390 Broadcom card I have two partitions, both primary with an MBR table. The first partition contains Vista Business. I installed iATKOS to the 2nd partition using the default options except for the following: X86 Patches / SMBIOS Drivers / SMBIOS Enablers / SMBIOS-EFI Air checked (Default: SMBIOS-EFI) X86 Patches / ACPI / Stock ACPI Modified checked (Default: None) X86 Patches / PS/2 checked (Default: Unchecked) X86 Patches / OHR checked (Default: Unchecked) Drivers / VGA / Intel / EFI String for Intel checked (Default: Unchecked) Drivers / System / SATA/IDE / Intel SATA and Intel AHCI SATA checked (Default: None) Drivers / System / Speedstep / Intel Speedstep a checked (Default: None) Drivers / System / Laptop Battery checked (Default: Unchecked) Drivers / System / NTFS-3G checked (Default: Unchecked) The result was the following on first boot: Working dual-boot with Vista Graphics: QE/CI enabled, 1280x800 resolution (correct), didn't try changing resolution Audio: Works, didn't try headphones or mic Touchpad: Works Keyboard: Works, including Fn shortcuts for volume, mute, and brightness Ethernet: Heard of problems with the BCM gigabit ethernet chipsets so didn't even try Wi-Fi: Dell 1390 card online out of the box as expected Shutdown/Reboot: Works, no errors yet Sleep: WORKS!!!!!! Power LED flashes as expected, and system doesn't wake up unless I press the power button (normal for this laptop). Speedstep: Works, status menu in menu bar shows CPU clocks ranging from 800mhz to 1800mhz as expected. Battery Gauge: Works, and with Speedstep enabled the laptop shows 4 hours remaining with a full charge (up from 3:15 in Vista) CPU Cores: Did NOT have to enter Cores=1; SysProfiler shows 2 cores. In addition, I installed ALL updates, including 10.5.6, through the following steps: 1) sudo /Applications/TextEdit.app/Contents/MacOS/TextEdit 2) Open /System/Library/Extensions/ACPIPS2Nub.kext/Info.plist 3) Change ACPIPlatform dependency from 1.2.1 to 1.2.4 (found new ACPI version in a post on another forum - can't find link) 4) Save 5) Repair permissions 6) Apple / Software Update 7) Check all, and install! On reboot after the update, everything still worked - no problems whatsoever. Sleep/Shutdown/Reboot still work.
