fcastro
Hi all, I installed iDeneb 10.5.5. During the custom setup I also picked the video card drivers for my 3850. When I reboot I see the grey apple screen and then after that I get to a light blue screen. Well half of the screen is light blue and the other half is odd video artifacts on black. I see my mouse pointer and I can move it. There is one mouse pointer that is frozen in place as well. I can't seem to get past this screen. Anyone have any thoughts? fcastro
HI all well I have now tried iPC install as well as iDeneb and both are giving me the same screen aftrer install and reboot. When I am in verbose "-v" I don't see any issues. Everything goes thru and when I get to the main screen this is what I get. I can move my mouse around and I also see a stuck mouse icon in the upper left. Anyone have any thoughts? I am loading the correct drive for my ATI 3850 in both installs. fcastro
OK everyone I swapped in an older video card (ati 800xl) and redid the install and bang everything installed and worked. So the video card was the problem here even though the correct kext was on both the iDeneb (10.5.4) install and the iPC (10.5.6). Quake3Crash
Did you install using one of the modified kernels? I found that to be key to a good and successful install besides the various fixes. If that doesnt work try booting with the -f -s -x -v parameters. there's also cpus=1 but i doubt that will fix it... but give those a try. if either doesnt work then I dont really know how to help you. If all else fails, select another video driver. fcastro
Quake3Crash, with both the iDeneb and iPC install there was the option for the 3850 within the video drivers sections option. Is that what you mean? I haven't tried the -f -s -x -v parameters only the -f -v. I am going to give this a try see what happens. fcastro
My screen is not fully blue as the screen shot above indicates. The artifacts and or black screen part indicates a video driver issue. A full blue screen could be a number of other drivers.
