Posting this for those who have the same setup.

  • Installed 10.5.4 from retail disk using OSInstall.mpkg found on Leopard install disk from an existing setup on the same machine (iDeneb 10.5.5)
  • Then installed 10.5.5 combo update.
  • Applied kext packs.
  • Installed Chameleon EFI on vanilla disk.
  • Rebooted, tested for any problems. Rebooted 2 more times to be sure.
  • Then rebooted back into iDeneb 10.5.5 disk
  • Ran 10.5.6 Combo Update, installed kext packs and AppleHDA.kext from working existing extensions folder, reinstalled Chameleon on vanilla disk.
  • Rebooted, 10.5.6 disk/install is working. Firewire works too. Software Update has not broken anything . . . yet.
