Xempy
I see no mention of an ATi motherboard under the compatibility lists, but there's also no mention of it not working. So I've tried a few different .isos, but the farthest they've gone is this after bootup. (Have yet to reach the install screen. I have gotten a white screen with an apple logo to immediately come up, but it freezes at that screen.) Could the ATi mobo be at fault? Xempy
After doing "io=0x21 -x -f -v", I can get the black screen as far as: IOHIDSystem::attach(IOResources) config(5):creating config(5cdbd60): terminating config(5cdbd60): starting on IODisplayWrangler, 10 config(5cdbd60): terminating config(5cdbd60): starting on IOHIDSystem, 10 config(5cdbd60):: terminating ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::attach(AppleACPICPU) ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::detach(AppleACPICPU) ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::attach(AppleACPICPU) config(5cd9f20): stalling ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin config(3): creating config(4): creating config(5cda6b0): terminating config(5cdbd60): starting on io-apic, 10 panic(cpu 0 caller 0x001926F3): "pmap_flush_tlbs() timeout: " "cpu 1 failing to respond to interrupts, pmap=0x530500 cpus_to_sig nal=2"@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-1228/osfmk/i386/pmap.c:4566 config(5cdb5d0): starting on AppleACPICPU, 10 config(5cdb5d0): ternminating Debugger called: <panic> Backtrace, Formate - Frame : Return Address (4 potential args on stack) 0x521e389 : 0x12b0e1 (0x4555b4 0x521e38cc 0x133238 0x0) 0x521e38e8 : 0x1926f3 (0x45b2d0 0x1 0x530500 0x2) 0x521e3958 : 0x193845 (0x530500 0x42afe000 0x0 0x0) (^ about 7 more rows of numbers like that are here...) 0x521e3e88 : 0x41a695 (0x5ce51e0 0x5cf4b80 0x4 0x5d68680) Backtrace continues... I can also (depending on chosen boot options) get to the white apple screen but, as before, it goes no further. However, unlike before, I no longer freeze here. Whether or not this is progress remains to be seen. The disc I used calls itself "Leopard-10.5.2-AMD-EFI". I believe it's Zephyrothe. Can anyone suggest another that may work well on an AMD machine? Anyone had their black screens stop where mine are? (I've tried messing with my BIOS settings, but they're extremely limited, and I hate it. This is basically all I get.) EDIT: My harddrive is also ATA (which I understand is also known as IDE?). Could this be getting in the way? Some people say to use SATA, some say it doesn't matter. Going to try with another .iso and compare results.
