g_face2k
Updated 01/13/09 Every thing that is important works except for the display i'm stuck at 1024x768, The sound works but its choppy unless u move the mouse around and the wifi light is dim and I can't connect to my wpa2 aes wifi connection but an open network works fine. I researched the forums to get some help installing Leopard on a Dell Inspiron 1526 but had no luck. I spent like 2 days already reinstalling OS X Leopard on this Laptop using the "Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD Intel_Amd (sse2/sse3)" ISO, so here is the settings that have worked the best for me so far. Pre install settings: -BIOS- I'm not 100% this makes a difference but either way... HDD Acoustic Mode - Bypass Power Now! Enable - OFF -Prep HD- I'm doing a Vista, Ubuntu 8.10, OS X set up. The simplest way to set up a partition for OS X was using GParted from the Ubuntu installation CD. You just need a partition bigger than 6 Gigs, I set up a 20 Gig primary partition and formated it as Fat 32 so the Installer for OSX can see it. -Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD Intel_Amd (sse2/sse3) I seen a youtube video that had the guy press -v -x -f on the Darwin boot screen. I find that it makes this system boot the fastes. So when you launch the DVD at the "press F8" screen press F8 and type in -v -x -F press enter Wait about 10 minutes for the system to boot up the gui. When the install screen comes up, format the Fat 32 partition (if your just using a partition, you can also use the whole drive) by selecting utilities from the top menu and using "Disk Utility". Select the partition and choose to erase it as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". Note- I read some where that the label should have no spaces. Now exit Disk Utility. Proceed till you choose your drive (and select it), hit next. Now hit Custom. Here is what has work for me so far: Kernel: Kernel_9.2_Sleep Graphics: None Audio: None Network: Defualt selection + Broadcom wifi Mother Board: AppleVIAATA, AppleGenericpcata SSe2: none Patches: Lastnetkassmbios, TimeMachineFix, PowerManagement_bundle, USBPCGen AMD: Patch test 2 The other stuff is optonal. (ie. Languge..) Now your ready to install. It takes about 1 hour for everything to finish. When the system first boot it should take like 3-5 min if not faster. If you have a lan line connected it will boot faster. As of now this is what is Not Working: ATI X1270 (need proper drivers) SD Card reader modem What Is Working: Key board Touch pad Webcam USB ports Firewire (I dont have anything to test it but it shows up) DVD drive Ethernet Card (works Out the box) Sound Card (Make a codec dump or use the one attached to this post then use AppleHDAPatcherv1.20 to install it, delete the AppleAzalia.kext from system\library\extensions and repair disk permissions) Wifi (use the bcm43xx_enabler_0.5.2.sh.zip on the post) If any one has any input on how to make the other componets work please show us how you did it.
