Hi

Just to pass on my experience in the migration on this motherboard from the Jas 10.5.4 Client/Server to the new 10.5.6.

I read a bit of the notes on the forum since i had a bad experience of trying to move to 10.5.5 and i found some on the details of someone using a gigabyte P35-DS3L that helped with the steps to follow.

Since the Jas Distribution is using chameleon 1.0.11 what i did is upgrade it to the 1.0.12 that Netkas mentions in his blog. I copied the boot file to the root / and just in case run the disk utility tool.

After that i got a copy of the disabler.kext for the issues with the AppleIntelCpuPowerManagement.kext that killed my 10.5.5. I just used the osx86 tools Final to load it.

I got the DSDT tool and run it copying the .aml file to the root too.

After this i downloaded the combo update directly from the Apple Website.

All run fine and the system restarted. And guess what, failed to boot again.

I got a strange error about BSD process name corresponding to current thread:unknown.

I resisted the idea of reinstalling and decided to upgrade the BIOS of the system from version F12 to F13c and after this

i rebooted with -v -x and no exception. After that rebooted again 2 times, after that the system started as normal.

I checked all seams to be working, sound, video, network, etc.

The icons of the HD's changed back to orange ( which is not a problem ) and System profiler is now working properly (never did on 10.5.4).
