Hi all

I was running OsX 10.5.1 on amd x2 until recently, and I just upgraded to an E8400 with the gigabyte P45-UD3. I've reinstalled it with the more recent OSx distro I can find (IAktos 10.5.5) and was very disappointed by this, because I've many issues. I think there is too many distros out there and this is really a problem. First, I noticed they have removed all languages but english ???. Second, there is many patch in the image causing problems or crashs. I find that mixing different version of kext could be very bad for the stability of the system, and could result in strange things like Kernel panic on mounting a DMG or when using software (crash with vmware fusion 2 as an exemple). I've cleaned up my installation and now I'm running OsX 10.5.6 with unmodified kernel and all kexts from 10.5.6 + some others (disabler, jmicron, nvkush, envy24...). The system is more responsive and stable than after fresh install from iaktos. My nvidia 8800 GTS is working nicely with full CI/QE in dual screen, the onboard realtek audio is working, network is ok and now thanks to a pure genius named audiodriverwriter, I can even use my M-Audio delta 44 sound card.

Boot_v9 in grub is great for dual booting xp and osx.

Theses comments are valid if you have compatible hardware, I understand patching is needed for amd and such.

I've have some question to the experts:

How do I know OsX is using High precision event timer ? (HPET activated in bios)

How do I know what has been modified in a distro ?

How to remove completely the useless DSDT ?

How can I make my own OsX DVD without the crappy packages installed in many distros ?

thanks for reading
