c0d3_z3r0
I have a MBP, it's the MacBookPro2,2 model running 10.5.6. 2 days ago my mac started booting up very slow, it takes now around 5 minutes to boot. I used disk utility and repaired permissions there were 4 things it would not repair, I looked on google for a solution but I couldn't find one. So I backed up my system and re installed leopard, did the updates and repaired permissions, and it was able to repair what it needed to and didn't give me that problem anymore but still would boot slow. Now I also noticed that after I reinstalled os x, my firewire isnt working, I checked system profiler and this showed up "Warning: Unable to list FireWire devices." The mbp wont go to sleep from the apple menu or by closing the lid. when I close the lid the light on the front of the laptop goes on but doesnt "breathe", when I open the laptop again the screen is still dark and none of the keys will work so I have to force shutdown to be able to use the machine again. I googled all these problems and I tried everything I could think of to fix it, I reset the PRAM and SMC. I also used onyx and tried the maintenance and optimization with it. I did the apple hardware test and no problems showed up, I used memtest 86 and that didn't give me an error, I checked the hdd with seagate tools and that went without a problem. About a little over a month ago I replaced the original fujitsu drive with a seagate 320gb 7200.3 drive I know the drive isn't slow so it shouldn't be slow to boot the machine. I also tried and installed tiger and it will give me the same problems from leopard. I can't think of anything else to try. If someone would help I would really appreciate it. I copied a part of the system log that I think shows the boot up process, maybe that could help diagnose the problem.
