ForgottenCloud
Hi, my Macbook1,1 (the original MacBook) developed a strange problem when I started it up yesterday night. It turns on and chimes normally, but the sleep LED is a solid white, and the screen initially is at full brightness but immediately goes to the minimum brightness (1 step above total blackness). The system boots as normal, but then it immediately goes to sleep right about the time when the login screen comes up. Attempts to wake it up are futile as it will go right back to sleep 2 seconds later. In singleuser mode it does not sleep although the screen is still dim and the sleep LED is on, and viewing /var/log/system.log, I get messages from the kernel that just says 'sleep' and nothing else. Pressing the power button, then immediately disconnecting the keyboard connector permits the machine to operate normally without sleeping/solid white sleep LED/dim LCD, but requires the use of an external keyboard/mouse. Is something wrong with my logic board/keyboard assembly? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/142093-macbook11-strange-problem/ Share on other sites
Wrenbird
Before jumping to conclusions, I would contact Apple's support (If you still have phone support). If you can't, then back up everything on your hard drive and reinstall OS X.
