Hello!

Specs:

Asus Rampage Extreme (Intel® X48/ICH9R)

Western Digital Caviar 160gb SATA HDD on Intel chipset

Western Digital Caviar 100gb IDE HDD on Marvell® 88SE6121 chipset

nVidia BFG 8800 Ultra

2gb x DDR3 OCZ memory

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550

Bios:

ICHR SATA to run in AHCI mode

Marvell in Legacy IDE mode

I have tried both iAKATOS and Kalway versions of Leopard 10.5. At first I was getting stuck at "Still waiting for root device". Having finally getting past that in both of them by installing an IDE drive, I get to the Disk Utilities screen, where all I can see is my SATA drive and not my IDE drive. I don't know what to do. I have set it as "Master" and it is on Port 0 as it were. Therefore you would have thought that I would be able to install OSX on that drive. The IDE drive is on the Marvell chipset where as my SATA drive is on the intel chipset.

What could the problem be?

Thanks

Some of the P5Q series boards use the Marvell 88SE6121 controller.

The upcoming iPC 10.5.6 PPF3 patch will add support for booting from and installing on drives attached to this controller.

You can investigate if it's possible to edit your iATKOS DVD and insert an AppleVIAATA.kext that will allow you to boot from drives attached to your Marvell controller, or you can wait for iPC PPF3 to come out and then install from that.

The easiest solution would be buying a PATA to SATA adapter and put all your drives on the ICH10 and not use the Marvell IDE ports at all.

Maybe there are other ways, I don't know.
