u7string
I'll just take a second to introduce myself since I just signed up with this forum. I am not only new to this forum, but I am a new Mac user. About two weeks ago I purchased a MacBook. It's one of the new ones with the aluminum case. And I'll add while I'm at it, I think it is awesome. A bit of computer history for me is I've been a Windows user since 3.1.1, and have dabbled in some Linux use as well, i.e. Fedora, Ubuntu, SuSE, Mandriva, and Linpus. Never really dug to deep into much command line stuff with Linux. Ok, now to my question. When I had setup to use my new MacBook on my company network, I wound up noticing that my NetBios name wound up being jbergman. jbergman is a sales guy who is on our network; don't know why it assigned his name as my NetBios name. Anyway, so using system preferences I went to the Wins setup and changed the NetBios name to my name. However, now in opening up a terminal window, my command line shows up as jbergman:~/ron$. Why is this, and where do I change this? I can't find any system settings that reference jbergman. Not really a big deal, but just annoying. Not sure if this was the best category to post this question, so if anyone thinks this should be asked again under another category please let me know. Thanks.
