And must I buy a copy or can I just use a Leopard dmg I have. Also, how do I properly burn my Leo dmg. I've tried with disk utility, but I just get a flashing folder when I boot off it (on my real mac). Use Boot-132, or just download a prepatched version of Leopard, like Leo4All. I don't know what's up with your Leo dmg, maybe it is corrupt or something. Try to borrow a retail disk, or I don't know, re-download the Leopard dmg from the torrent. Sowhat does the flashing question mark/ macos sign folder on startup mean nayways? I will try with the other torrent. What is the correct way to burn dmg's in disk utility? i've only used ISO's. I think I did it right... I selected open image and selected my leo dmg, then hit burn... thx for the guide! Oh and my programming teacher (also teaches a class on hardware) told me that using a p35 board is beter -- or at least as good -- for my cpu (q6600) as it was designed for the p35 chipset. Is this right? cuz I see that everyone else using this cpu is using a p45 version of my board... He seems to even include a package with all the required kexts and such (), but where do I get the apps to install kexts (kexthelper) or OSX86 Tools? and, though I know this is a horrible noob question,but what exactly is vanilla kernerl and chameleon? I know they're important and I hear everyone talking about having them installed and such. I just need to understand this stuff better. Synaesthesia Posted December 17, 2008 Share Posted December 17, 2008 Here is Kexthelper. Here is OSX86Tools on PCWiz's page. I would go with the P35 board as everyone has said it works really well. There's not too much difference between P35 and P45. I'm pretty sure you're burning it correctly. You can also try Burn! - free burning software. Just click on "copy", then drop the dmg onto it. Or Toast (that's not free). Chameleon is one of the bootloaders used to boot OS X. Vanilla Kernel is the original Apple kernel, not hacked or modified in any way. If this fails, try iAtkos! The new 5i version is quite good, and it's a small download! It's definitely the easiest way to get OS X running, in my opinion. Yo, PM me if you need help BTW are you really getting a 1000W PSU. Wman Posted December 17, 2008 Author Share Posted December 17, 2008 I've already installed iAtkos on another computer and though compatibility sucked (lost airport audio and proper gfx), the instal was easy. I wil do that until I get a proper retail install going, but I want updates and such. Is vanilla and chameleon something I have to install or what? or something that has problems? Why is there so much talk of it? I'll try with toast 9 (as I already have it) I'll also try burn! and no, 100w psu was a typo, I'm using a 500w or 450w psu. What C2Duo CPU might you recommend as I might not be able to afford the CDQ one right now (little low on money)? I would probably upgrade at a later date. If the compatibility sucked, it was the hardware's fault, not iAtkos. er. I'm not sure how to answer your other questions regarding Vanilla & chameleon.
