HacintoshManiac
Hi, Okay here's the story: I have been trying to get the wi fi working for quite a while now.. I finally got it working on the Windows half of my laptop and so I thought that the chances were increased on getting it working on the mac side. Well things didn't go exactly as planed, I know that my wifi card is the intel 2100 and so I found a driver somewhere on this site and installed it. When I was done installing it the only option to click was "restart" I did so and from then on when ever it gets to the boot page with the apple logo and the little spinning thing at the bottom the screen gets darker and it says that I need to restart the comp and to hold the power button. Now I'm not blaming anyone for this and I know that its my fault for installing it but I was just wondering if anyone has had this trouble before or if anyone knows how to fix it. I can still boot into the windows half but I cant see the mac partition of the HD from there and even if I could, in windows I would have to erase/partition to view. Note: This was my only comp and so I have about 2 months worth of unbacked up stuff on it. 8( Thanks a lot... HacintoshManiac
>Problem solved!< thank you very very much for the replies! It was the "iwi2100.dmg" file that I got off of a site linked at this forum. I actually maneged to fix this problem AND save all my data! Since I had a dual boot set up I uninstalled windows from the second partition and installed leopard on it. I then had two leopard installations on the comp (one working and one broken) I then, from the working half, accessed all of my data and then backed it up. I searched the HD for "2100 kext" or something similar and then deleted it. I rebooted into the previously broken half and everything is exactly how I left it! I"m veeery happy because all of my fall 08 school stuff was on there and I would have been reaaally bad if I lost it. I didn't get a chance to enter the codes that you gave me but If it happens again I will try that way first and let you know my results.. again thank you very much! btw, it was just a dmg file that I installed..
