Lite-Josh Posted December 16, 2008 Share Posted December 16, 2008 Hi there to anyone who reads this. I'm Josh and today was thinking about installed iDeneb 10.5.5 on my laptop. But then, I thought what should I do if all my hardware isnt compatible or if I cant somehow get the laptop to boot or if it wont let me re-install XP or Vista. So i was wondering if anyone could help me a little bit. Ohh and will this hardware work? (The laptop is a HP Compaq Presario CQ-50) CPU: AMD Turion X2 RM-70 ~ 2GHz GPU: nVidia 8200M G Graphics Card ~ Total Memory 895MB (256MB Dedicated) RAM: Just 2GBs, I dont know make or anything Sound: Conexant HD SmartAudio 221/nVidia HDMI Interface Audio WLAN: Atheros something or other. ----------------------- Peace out. It doesn't modify your hardware rather than it modifies the software used to operate it. http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...resario_V3431TU That seems to be the closest tutorial you can get for your model of laptop. Have you actually installed OSX yet or are you yet to get to the installation phase? Boot up and at darwin prompt, enter -v which will load the system in verbose mode (essentially a diagnostic mode - it tells you what's going on behind the Apple logo), try and snap a picture of it and come back with what it told you. The alternative is to literally just keep trying with verbose mode and hope that it will eventually work (has happened to me a few times). Ash X Posted December 17, 2008 Share Posted December 17, 2008 Don't want to derail the thread, just have a few questions: Can I install OSX on a separate partition on my HD, or is it best to install to a different HD? I currently have a dual-boot of Ubuntu and Vista on my primary HD, can I chain-load to the planned OSX on my secondary HD? Is it necessary to format the HD before installing OSX? I'd rather not have to move all the data off it first. Thanks in advance for any answers and/or help. Lite-Josh Posted December 17, 2008 Author Share Posted December 17, 2008 Hi, from what people post on here, and ive seen a lot of it, I think you have to have a clean NTFS drive on your PC (not a partition) to be able to format the HD to the Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format.
