I currently have two SATA hard drives, one which already has XP and the second to which I am attempting to install OS X.

I've tried several Kalyway, iatkos, and Leo4All OS X discs and versions as well as attempting to install OS X via VMWare Server virtualization, and I still get the same 'still waiting for root device' error, usually hanging after 'AppleGenericPCATADriver' is displayed in verbose mode. I've tried -v -x -f, and I still get the same error.

I've used GParted to partition the second drive for FAT32 as well as used diskpart in the command prompt to create the partition on the second drive, but I have still been unsuccessful. Is it possible that my build is simply unfit to install Mac OS X on? Thank you for your help.

Actually, I did get this to work, but it's very slow and not truly an independent OS. Do you have any advice on speeding it up or installing applications?

I would still like to be able to have Mac OSX as an actual operating system, but I don't know if that's possible at this point.
