Cave Man
I need to migrate from a 750 gb boot drive to a 1 TB boot drive. On a real Mac, Carbon Copy Cloner does this with ease. Will this also work with a hackintosh drive? Or will I need to redo the install from scratch? TIA. MacNutty
CCC sometimes does not copy the boot information. I prefer using disk utility to make image of the drive and restore it wherever I want. It copies all boot info too. I do not have to install a boot loader again to make it boot. Cave Man
Thanks for that info - I'll keep it in mind for next time. What I did was go through the installation, then when prompted to restart the computer to finish the installation, I rebooted with my old drive and then used CCC to migrate to the new drive, deselecting the "Delete items that don't exist on the source" option, just in case the Installer put necessary files on the drive that might have otherwise been erased by CCC. Everything seems fine so far (fingers crossed). Kibitz
Yes CCC will make bootable clones. but you need to run the chameleon installer to the external drive, whenn ccc has finished.
