CCC sometimes does not copy the boot information. I prefer using disk utility to make image of the drive and restore it wherever I want. It copies all boot info too. I do not have to install a boot loader again to make it boot.

Thanks for that info - I'll keep it in mind for next time.

 

What I did was go through the installation, then when prompted to restart the computer to finish the installation, I rebooted with my old drive and then used CCC to migrate to the new drive, deselecting the "Delete items that don't exist on the source" option, just in case the Installer put necessary files on the drive that might have otherwise been erased by CCC.

 

Everything seems fine so far (fingers crossed).
