toml_12953
OK, here's my dilemma: I installed iDeneb on my homebuilt system using an Intel DG965WH mobo. Install went well. After starting up the new system and installing maccam for my Webcam and a new Intel NIC kext, everything seemed to work, including sound. Great! (I thought) Tried to play a DVD. No go. Found out that Quartz Extreme not supported. Boo, Hiss! Tried to find a kext that would let me fully use my ATI Radeon 2600XT. None of the ones I found would. Also, my SATA drives are read-only. OK, now I see iATKOS 10.5.5. Let's try that! Again, install seems to go well including the use of maccam and the Intel NIC kext. Try to play a DVD. It plays! Wait! No sound! I try many STAC9271 kexts and txt files to modify AppleHDA.kext. No good. I try to install the AppleHDA.kext from my iDeneb install. Nope. Still no sound in iATKOS. I can, however read and write to my SATA drives. So now I can hear sound with iDeneb but not play DVDs or I can use iATKOS to play DVDs but have no sound. Is there any hope of having it all at once? I keep seeing references to Taruga (or is it Targua? I see both on here) for a STAC9271 solution but the Website referenced seems to be down. I'd totally replace Vista with OSX if these difficulties could be overcome. Can someone help a total nOOb? Thanks in advance for your patience. Lanceomni
Id use iATKOS as it seems your only issue there is sound. When you tried to install the sound drivers did you use a tool like kext helper or did you do this?: 1. Removed all audio related kexts 2. Copied insertyourkext.kext to /System/Library/Extensions 3. In Terminal wrote: sudo chmod -R 755 /System/LibraryExtensions/insertyourkext.kext 4. Entered your admin password when prompted 5. In Terminal wrote: sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/insertyourkext.kext sudo rm -R /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache sudo rm -R /System/Library/Extensions.mkext 6. Restarted and used the boot flags: -v -f -F You mentioned DVDs played. So you were able to get your QE on your ATI card? I used Kext Helper to do it and, yes, iATKOS does enable QE on the ATI card. Should AppleHDA.kext be the only kext I have to copy over from iDeneb to iATKOS to get sound or are there other ones? Do I need to be running the same kernel on both? As I said, I'm a total nOOb. Thanks for the reponse! Also on boot add these flags -v -f -F. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/141107-my-dilemma/#findComment-1001031 Share on other sites
Anjo
I installed iDeneb 10.5.5 on my DG965WH mobo. It began very well, sound in and out with the front connectors, SATA devices working, nVidia GeForce 6500 with Quartz Extreme but no Ethernet. I managed to fix the Ethernet issue but lost sound in the front connectors. Changed the sound to the back connectors and now everything is working. I also had an issue due to Disk Utility not flagging my partition as bootable, by I Googled it and managed to fix with a few commands in the Terminal before finishing installation. I recommend you try the options in the iDeneb installer very carefully, since you seem to have a system much like mine and I managed to get rid of Windows and am now using only my Hackintosh. toml_12953
I installed iDeneb 10.5.5 on my DG965WH mobo. It began very well, sound in and out with the front connectors, SATA devices working, nVidia GeForce 6500 with Quartz Extreme Since You have an nVidia and I have an ATI, that's the difference that's causing me all the problems. The iDeneb ATI drivers don't support QE. Sound is no problem. What choices did you make in your customization to get SATA working? I can read from my SATA drives but not write to them. I'm booting from a USB drive. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/141107-my-dilemma/#findComment-1015801 Share on other sites
