S-AVR
I own a XPS M1710. I managed to install Kalyway 10.5.2 without a problem. Everything went smooth and I used it for a while. Now.. I've tried to upgrade my OS. If I get the combo update to 10.5.3 I don't have a problem. But if I use the Delta update to 10.5.4 then or the combo update to 10.5.5 my keyboard goes missing. It isn't in System Information either. The same thing happens if I try to install combo update 10.5.5 directly after 10.5.2. I made a back-up to ApplePS2Controller.kext but it didn't made a difference. Can anyone help me with this? I've read the forums for a few days but I haven't got close to a solution and I miss my OS X. Ryaninja
I also had this problem when upgrading from 10.5.2 (can't remember if keyboard worked on 10.5.3) to 10.5.5/10.5.6 (keyboard doesn't work in either). I've tried replacing backup kexts from my 10.5.2 installation, but they haven't made a difference, the trackpad and the on board keyboard still doesn't work. The only solution I've found (Although I'm by no means any sort of expert - I have delusions of adequacy! ) so far is to plug in an external keyboard and mouse over USB, that works fine, but it's not ideal. Anyone got any ideas? Once I've got this sorted, all I'll need is to somehow get the additional CPU working, and I'll have a freaking awesome Mac! Hopefully someone will find a way soon - my Mac mini is on it's last legs! EDIT: Just noticed that the keyboard does work in safe mode, so it's obviously some sort of conflict or wrong driver problem. Unfortunately I just don't have the skills to fix it! Ryaninja
Oh, and another weird thing - the function + arrow keys on my laptop's keyboard still adjusts the screen brightness though! I've tried restoring ApplePS2Controller.kext from my backup of the extensions folder from 10.5.3, as well as trying various ApplePS2Controller.kext and ACPIPS2Nub.text from other posts on this forum, but none of these have made a difference. There have been no kernel panics, but at the same time, the keyboard and trackpad on the laptop still doesn't work. Any ideas anybody? Anyone got 10.5.6 working on an M1710 or similar with keyboard & mouse fully working?
