bobbymk
Hi all, I have been searching on google and in the forum but I cann't seem to find a solution to this problem: the computer takes a very long time to load OSX (installed with ideneb), more then 10 minutes.. I have an AMD processor and a nForce 570 Ultra chiset (Asus M2N E motherboard) I have installed Ideneb 1.3 with just: AMD patch AppleNForceATA (not the test version) kernel 9.4 It always takes very long to boot up, is this normal? more then 10 minutes to get the system going? If I've posted in the wrong place or a similar topic exsists, I'm sorry. Thanks for any help Bobby Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/140965-slow-boot-up-after-installing-ideneb-13/ Share on other sites

deesto
I've got the same problem: system boots, but shows some "errors" during boot and I see a black screen for 5 minutes (even with -v option), then OS X loads. Any ideas what's going on or how to troubleshoot? deesto
Another strange thing: if I try to export my system profile to a text file, the system hangs when the export gets to the very end. kattan
Same problem with me. I also have an Asus motherboard (AMDX2) with nForce chipset. I believe the problem is related to the nForce chipset and/or AMD. It seems that many people go this problem with Asus based motherboards. It worth to mention that I faced a similar issue with the iPC 10.5.6 installation. The source of the problem was the driver used for the nForce built-in ethernet card. I have installed an RTL based card keeping the built-in one enabled. I reinstalled WITHOUT selecting the driver for the nForce ethernet and using the RTL one instead and the system worked fine. However, in case of iDeneb, I checked with -v option and it seems that the startup is trying to load something and it fails. It keeps trying for about 5-8 minutes then the system boots. I couldn't figure out what was it since the screen scorlls fast. The kernel I used was Voodoo. I did try with others but that leads to the same slow startup problem. bobbymk
Hello all, Just thought that I'd check this post to see if someone had found a solution to the problem. I don't think the forcedeth drivers are what is slowing down the boot. I was able to find a partial solution but the boot up is still slow: it now takes 90 seconds to fully load OSX (about three times slower then my macbook pro). I think the main problem is the nforce chip set (not sure though! Maybe some experts can shed some light on this). What had originally caused the slow boot was my older video card (ATI Radeon X1950 pro); using a Geforce 8400GS 512 MB (Gigabyte), the installer loads almost instantly and without the need to use boot flags. For who ever has the ASUS M2NE motherboard here are the settings I used in iDeneb 1.3: - AMD patch - Audio ADI1988 (Mic worked but after upgrading to 10.5.8 lost all audio and had to install Azaila Driver, after which the mic didn't work) - AppleNforce Test - Kernel 9.2.0 sleep (Which was changed after install to voodoo kernel 9.8) - Forcedeth (The built in lan worked well with 10.5.5 and stoped working with 10.5.8. got it to work after reading this: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=12933) - NVinject 0.21 512 MB After I had installed iDeneb 1.3 I followed this great guide: http://www.insanelymac.com/2009/08/update-...osh-osx86-1058/ I don't think the forcedeth drivers are slowing the boot as kattan suggested: it takes 90 seconds to start up with the drivers installed. After a clean install of ideneb, without installing forcedeth and disabling the LAN in the bios, it still takes 90 seconds. Hope this helps someone out there!
