OK, so I'm not so n00bish that I didn't run a search first, but couldn't quite find a definitive answer to my question.

Background:

Longtime Mac user (even have an old SE at home that still runs!). Recently had to get rid of my 12" G4 PB and replaced it with a 13" MacBook in August. Less than happy, primarily due to the ginormous size and not-quite-stellar performance.

Current scenario:

Been following the OSX86 project nearly since its inception. It has no progressed to the point where I am about willing to take the plunge. Particularly the "new" process (excellently outlined by darkten and Type11) that allows for use of the Leo DVD, detailed here for the Dell Mini 9:

http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...Inspiron/mini_9

From what I have researched the issues with the Dell Mini 9 involve:

1.) no sleep without swapping the SSD and

2.) not fully compatible with all SD cards.

Conversely, the issues with the MSI Wind U100 involve:

3.) swapping out a WiFi card

4.) no working internal microphone & microphone port

5.) headphone port issues?

From what I have read, it also seems as if most people (I know, quite a qualifier) prefer the layout of the MSI Wind U100 in terms of screen quality and keyboard size.

However, I haven't been able to find a Leo DVD process for the MSI Wind U100. I have only located instructions for the slipstreamed version. So...

1. Is there not a Leo DVD process available for the MSI Wind U100? I.e., only slipstreamed versions will work for the MSI Wind U100?

2. Any chance that the Dell Mini 9 Leo process would work with the MSI Wind U100? I know most of the internals are similar, but I also understand that there might be just enough dissimilarities for that process not work on the MSI Wind U100.

Apologies if this post seems extremely ignorant, but I really want my ultraportable Mac back. :D Advance gratitude to anyone who can help.

Mods - if I stuck this in the wrong hold, move as needed. :)

I don't really know what you mean by "slipstream". Is it a retail install? Anyway, I have a MSI Wind U100 which is running perfectly, except for the internal mic. My installation method is as follows:

1) Installed Kalyway 10.5.2 using Paul's Guide which can be found at:

http://netbooks.modaco.com/content/msi/270...nd-advent-4211/

2) I didn't follow the whole guide through and through. Just until the part where Kalyway is installed.

3) Did a 10.5.6 combo update using this guide (posted by dparada78):

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=143434

4) Did not install voodoo kernel though since my wind can run on vanilla

5) Installed MSI Kext package which can be downloaded from here (did not install lan and audio kexts as lan was still working and was going to install a separate kext for audio):

http://forums.msiwind.net/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=11311

6) Installed the audio kext which can be found here:

http://forums.msiwind.net/osx-software/upd...-out-t7626.html

7) Updated to 10.5.7 through system update

8) repeated steps 5 and 6

and I now have an MSIWindU100 running 10.5.7 Vanilla. Earphone jack works, so does the line in jack. Camera works fine in iChat and Photobooth (using Camtwist), also works with Skype v2.6. The only thing not working properly is the internal mic which I'm waiting to be fixed... it's just a matter of time. Hope this helps.
