Hey there guys and gals. I’m new here, so bear with me if I’m asking a stupid question or if its in the wrong place.

I’m looking to upgrade a blue and white G3 tower. It’s already running panther with a 40gb hard drive and 700mb of ram. I need to add a hard drive controller so that I can put two more drives into it as well as a wireless card.

I’ve been doing some reading and its clear that I can’t just throw any old wireless card and/or hard drive controller in there. If I buy items that are on the compatability list here:

will they be certain to work?

Any further tips on these upgrades?

Thanks!

this site is all about running mac os x on intel hardware, including the new intel macs. therefore the HCL is more about what hardware will work on intel machines. however, hw which works on intel is likely to have worked on ppc, so it serve as a rough guide in this case.

no guarantees tho. good luck!

I upgraded the heck out of my old B&W. And although it is off topic from this forum section...

It's simple. You just need to find cards that are listed as compatible with Mac (be sure OS 10.x.x is compatible and if you are running classic on that B&W that OS 9.x.x is compatible as well.) It's not hard to find Mac compatible parts at *most* computer parts stores.

Wireless cards are going to be a little more of a pain to find Mac compatible, but you'll find em. Most drive controller cards are compatible.
