If I just use my laptop monitor it is fine but when I plug a monitor into the VGA port and click "Detect Displays" it gives me a black screen and I have to hold the power button.

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1720

The graphics card is a NVidia Geforce 8600M GT 256mb

I am using NVinject 0.2.1 and Leo4Allv3

with <fn><F8> nothing happens.

WHen I boot up with the monitor attached both screens are black and i have to force it to shutdown.

I have just followed this guide to get it working but it did not work :(

In system profiler it says:

Fixed it now, I had to change the NVCAP to 0400000000000100020000000000000700000000

Good stuff, I had the same issue and this fixed it. I really just wanted to ask how the Dell 1720 is going for you as I have the exact same laptop. Do you have everything except wireless working? I cannot for the life of me get shutdown/reboot/sleep working and wanted to know if you did.

Thanks!

Well it's working and thats about it, wireless is not working, shutdown/reboot and sleep don't work, card reader doesn't work, and need to check firewire.

But over time I will hopefully be able to sort out these problems.
