Hey I'm a nood in the OSx86 world, but after seeing how it can be cost effective and rewarding to building one I'm ready to get started.

I've build PCs in the past but now I use a intel iMac for home use and a Quad Core MacPro for work

I want to build a 2.83 Ghz Quad Core

I wanted help figuring out what would be the most stable setup

If anyone could let me know what they are running and/or what hardware to get, I'd greatly appreciate it

Thank you! :D

Quad Core Guide

I followed this guide except that I overclocked my Q6600 from 2.4Ghz to 3.3Ghz = approx 6350 on Geekbench. It's very stable and a delight to use. I'm not sure how that compares with your Mac Pro?

I have two quadcore hacks

1

GA P35-DS3R

q6600

7300 gs 512 mb

Sata2 Drives and DVD

4 gig memory (max is 8)

2

GA EP45-DS3

q6600

7300gs 256 mb

Sata2 drives and DVD

4 gig memory (max is 16)

Both runs really good on Retail Leo 10.5.4 and 10.5.5. I installed Leo using both 123 bootloader and LTLs method. I think it´s best to use Gigabyte motherboards. Good luck
