Hi everyone,

First of all, I apologize if this has already been solved - all I could find by searching were similar, but not exact, issues.

I just installed Kalyway 10.5.1 onto a ThinkPad T41. The install went successfully, but upon reboot (after ensuring I was actually booting the HD) I just get a blank screen with a cursor, like the bootloader is missing or something. I rebooted into the DVD and ran "Repair Disk" and "Repair Disk Permissions" (as instructed by Kalyway before the install) but still after a reboot a blank screen was displayed.

Also, another odd part of this - immediately after booting from the hard drive the HD access light goes on and stays lit - so I suppose something must be happening. It's been left on for about 15 minutes now, though, and still it is just a blank screen. Has this issue been resolved / reported before? I would really like to get Mac OS X working!

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

I don't know much about your laptop but it sounds like a video issue to me. I suspect the install program uses default video settings that work on nearly everything. Once installed the OS switches to whatever you specified or what it thinks is best. Maybe that won't work for you. Try using an external monitor to see if you can get video on it and maybe you can fix it for your laptop screen.

I connected it to an external monitor and got the same thing. During the install, though, I didn't select any of the extra video drivers. I'll check out what card I have in the laptop and then try a reinstall.

Edit: Just checked the BIOS and I have an ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 installed. I'll boot into the install disk and see if that's listed for the drivers.

Nope, there doesn't seem to be an option for ATI Mobility 7500 drivers. Does anyone know of an installer disc where these drivers are available? I tried to reinstall with the only ATI drivers available on the install disc (X1x00, I believe) and that didn't help either. ;)
