I did get asus P5QL pro with same brand hard drive, LG DVD to boot up with iDeneb 10.5.5. When you install, be sure to check the options that include two power management options. Also try not loading a video card, and then installing later. When booting after install, quickly hit F8 button to break into install options. type -x -v for safe install and verbose reporting. This will give you an idea of what is causing probable kernal panic. "HPET" errors are caused by a problem with ACPI/ power management- needs the fix on th iDeneb disk. Also with a partial install, the driver caches are frequently not cleared and the install will choke. Unless you want to do this from the terminal command line, you can repartition the disk during the install by chosing disk utilities, and do a totally fresh install with the appropriate options. Make sure you also disable ethernet on the motherboard cmos; it will not work in osx. Configure SATA as AHCI- a must. Finally, check your bios. The bios rom that works is 0601. I have had varying reports about out of the box funtioning. I had to use a hacked version (removes a few lines of code that causes problems) available on internet of 0601. Reflashing bios is easy to perform but a little risky. If done with the bios utility, it will need to be done with a floppy; if you did not get a floppy with your system, you can use a USB floppy as I did. I believe there are other utilities that can work from any drive, but I am not aware of them. Understand that a bad flash of the bios MB can totally trash the MB-such as might happen with a power outage or drive error. I THINK this MB has a removable EPROM that can be replaced.

All that being said, my system:

Asus PC QL pro with intel quad core 9550

4 gigs of DDR2 ram

2 one terabyte drives

ATI HD 3850 video card (all functions work, had to download a fix)

No on board ethernet

No on board sound (some claim they have gotten it to work)

Sound via USB sound card (M audio on E bay)

Wireless networking using zydas chipeset based usb wireless (about $10) Need download kext

USB ethernet using generic usb card (I had taiwan card around, worked out of the box)

All of CS4 adobe works flawlessly.

I hope this is of some help. I did this Chrismas Eve for my son who needs it for video and graphics.

Hey....I Have The Same Mobo,

But Following The P5Q Series Tutorials, I Have Gotten To The Part Where I Boot From iDeneb Or iAtkos, I Can't Get Past Apple Logo, It Tells Me To Restart..

Then I Found Out I Need A Patched/Modified Bios, I Need Bios 1060...Can't Find Links For it, Especially Since The New "2010 Rapidshare Limit"...

If You Could Tell Me What Modified Bios You Used Or A Link To It, I Would Greatly Appreciate It...

Thanks, Much Respect..

I have 0601 bios that works with that MB. It was a modified downgrade. I am running 10.5.8 currently, vanilla. Attached is the bios used. Make sure you backup your current bios before flashing. Good luck. I have ati 3850 and it works well. If you have not tried to use ideneb 10.5.8 lite, you might give it a try. It worked on another machine quite well similarly configured.

Good luck.
