Ever heard of google? It's a really great search engine!

Here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?aut...p;showentry=507

Yes, that is exactly how I found the link you posted above which contains the tutorial I am using, stimulating this question. There is no link to download OSx86DeFacto.dmg. Just one for OSx86Tools.

I looked in the OSxTools zip but found no such file..

Can anyone help?

Step 4. Owners of nForce chipset + Intel CPU MOBOs who post in my nForce chipset + Intel CPU MOBO topics, who I believe have exhausted all other options for solving their DVD and/or HDD OSx86 booting problems will be invited by myself to PM me to get the download link for OSx86DeFacto, which they must agree not to (i) post in the public domain, e.g. in this forum or in other fora and/or (ii) pass on to another person or persons without my agreement.

Whoops overlooked that tid-bit. Does that mean the USB Bootloader method will only work with Intel & NVID chipsets? Or those are the only people that qualify to PM him? I have an AMD Turion 64.

Sorry to be a pest. If I'm in the wrong section of this forum feel free to point me in the right area..

It was produced for and tested on nForce chipset + Intel CPU MOBOs.......to deal with the "still waiting for root device" error.......

What is your full system spec?

Thanks for the quick response

Compaq Presario v2000 notebook (please don't laugh. Ha. Runs great since I up't HDD/RAM.)

AMD Turion 64 Mobile ML-24 1.80 Ghz

1918 MB RAM

Fujitsu MHV2100AH ATA 100 Gig HD IDE

Vesa v2.0 ATI 128mb Mobility Radeon Xpress 200G Series

HL-DT ST DVDRAM GSA-4082N ATA

Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller

Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad

Conexant ATI AC '97 modem

Broadcom WLAN

Realtec RTL8139/80x Family Fast Ethernet Nic

COnexant AC-Link AUdio

Currently dual-booting Leo4allv2 release on 2nd partition, vista ultm. on 3rd with a swap partition file share on the first.

I can boot (very slowly) into OSX, but I have to use extenal USB keyboard/mouse.

ALso, I think OSX thinks I have a SATA drive causing it to operate really really [lag] slow. (i may be wrong)

Is there a kext I need to get and inject so it knows its an IDE? I swear I've been googling!

Leo4allv2 is the only realease I have found that will install and boot. (Not reliably, and slow)

I read somewhere else that Kalyway supported touchpad/keyboard... which leads to the reason I wanted to create that USB bootloader..to try and install one of the other 5 images of OSx86 I have in my possesion (that have waiting on 'root errors' & other misc issues..)

Vista is flying on my third partition (hardware hungry bloatware! )

I'd really like get this Potential Mac running quickly and with everything enabled!

Any Suggestions?

Well your HDD is a 5400rpm drive......slower than 7200rpm desktop HDDs

Using an external USB keyboard/mouse is often required with laptops

You need to check if the HDD vendor and device IDs are in the Info.plist of the ATA kexts.....

Suggest you look in this thread for some pointers......

EDIT: See here......may have video limitations.....
