hello, i have been trying to format my hard drive as a mac os x extended journal, but every attempt in the Disk Utilities comes out a failure.

I am using iATKOS v2, JAS, and XxX Leopard 10.5.5 installers, all of which are having the same problems.

I'm formatting it as a NTFS (also tried FAT-32) primary drive, but still to no avail. the Disk Utilities shows that it's dismounting the drive, erasing, then it renames my partition to disks04 MS-DOS every time.

I've tried partitioning in both XP and Linux, can some one guide me to what i'm doing wrong?

thanks.

can a {censored} get a bump?

When you go into Disk Utility, go to Partition and Options; choose Master Boot Record (MBR); and select number of volumes to partition HDD into and format intended OS X volume as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)....... B)

Edit: Suggest you use Disk Utility to format intended volume as MS-DOS (FAT) after partitioning as MBR and then erase immediately as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).......sometimes Disk Utility may not do a clean erase......

thanks for the quick reply, i'll try tonight!

Let me know how you get on..... B)

alright, i should have said before: i had xp and ubuntu linux running on their own partitions, i had to remove the xp partition for it to go through. now, after it's install, my laptop freezes on a blue screen?

did i not install the right package?

This is a video driver issue......see here...... :)
