Silver Byte
hi guys, I have been reading a lot of stuff about installing OSX on my laptop recently. I need Leopard only for XCode. At first I used Kalway 10.5.2 on my laptop HDD which it promptly killed (MBR gone), so now I definitely need it to be on an external USB drive only. Then I came across another simple guide (http://linux-guider.blogspot.com/2008/09/i...54-is-easy.html), which is why I downloaded iATKOS 5i. I installed it to the USB drive, but it doesnt boot , so I made a mistake there. So, here are my questions to you gurus: My steps are: 1. format USB drive as HFS+ journaled partition. 2. Open Terminal. Do "fdisk -e /dev/rdisk2s1". Then "flag 0". 3. Select 9.2 kernel 4. Install to USB drive partition. Now I see discussions about the linux menu.lst entries Some say Title OS XRoot (hd0,2) make active chainloader +1 Others say (http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry606752) title Mac OSX Leopardroot (hd0,0) kernel /boot/boot_v8 boot Third person mentions creating a ext3 partition on the HFS disk and storing the boot_v8 there(http://forum.insanelymac.com/lofiversion/i...p:/t128857.html). Yet others mention they enabled USB drive booting by Chameleon EFI bootloader. I have killed my primary OS three times till now, so could someone help me by pointing out the correct approach. I'm at a loss here. thanks... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/139444-howto-multiboot-linux-osx-on-usb-drive/ Share on other sites
