I seem to be having some issues with my network card, first up it doesnt detect a mac address altho it does get assigned an ip from dchp. Second thing my computer blocks all incomming conections. I've tried to connect via ssh, afp, smb and http and all of them just time out. if anyone has any ideas i'd realy apreciate the help Cheers guys. nobb1x
oops, sorry i posted that at like 3 am its a broadcom 5789 gigabit nic omg! another broadcom model, how many they made?? i never heard of this before, but there is an huge thread here http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=4987 on broadcom cards, maybe you will need to hexedit the driver, or even better, looking in the thread you can find one already hexedited. EthernalEmpty did a lot. If you get the IP address from the dhcp but no connectivity, try to open a shell window and start a tcpdump command My 5787M works only if a tcpdump is in the background, while the 00 mac address is a common issue. You say that your pc is unreachable from the outside, did you tried to see if you can ping outside? i.e. your router? try to ping with and without the tcpdump active,to see if something change. good luck Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/139023-network-card-half-working/#findComment-985762 Share on other sites
